A gorgeous hillside faced to north-west. The soil is identical to Burgundy where the worlds most famous Chardonnay and Pinot Noir come from. A high content of limestone and a small top layer of clay.

All these conditions are exceedingly rare so really unique. 2012 finally the perfect spot has been found at the hills of Maungahina Stud north-east of Masterton. This was the start of Lime Hill Vineyard.

Raphael Burki and Karl Heinz Johner have been working together in the wine industry since 2009 and both are having the passion for producing high quality wines. They tried to find the perfect piece of land in the Wairarapa for a few years.

Spring time 2013 the planting of 1.3 hektar started.

It is all about Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The vineyard work follows organic principle.

The winemaking is done in the most gentle way to guarantee a natural product where all the excelllence of the terroir comes into its own.
